The 1st Inaugural Big Match between St. Aloysius College, Galle and Holy Cross College, Kalutara, aptly named the “Battle of Dreams,” was held on the 30th and 31st of May 2025 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.

The event was graced by the Chief Guest, His Lordship Dr. Raymond Wickramasinghe, Bishop of Galle, along with many distinguished old boys and well-wishers from both schools. The opening ceremony took place in a truly grand manner, reflecting the unity and pride shared between the two institutions.

Despite the challenging weather conditions that limited play to 28 overs, the spirit of the game remained high. Holy Cross College batted first and managed to score 56 runs for the loss of 4 wickets before play was interrupted.

This historic encounter was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Old Boys’ Unions of both colleges, who not only initiated but also fully organized and funded the event. The “Battle of Dreams” marks the beginning of a new sporting tradition, celebrating friendship, teamwork, and the shared heritage of two proud Catholic schools.
